The Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has reviewed and reissued travel advisory today - Friday July 23, 2010, to its citizens either in Nepal or planning to visit Nepal. It advises its citizens to exercise a high degree of caution due to the uncertain political and security situation; to pay close attention to self security at all times and monitor the media and other local sources for information about possible new safety or security risks.

The advisory further states that the political situation in Nepal remains fragile; strikes and violent demonstrations frequently take place in Kathmandu and throughout the country and may continue to occur during the ongoing negotiations to finalize the new constitution.
